Dr Meera Shirodkar
Meera is an Assistant Professor teaching the disciplines of film studies and filmmaking. She completed her PhD in Film from the University of Southampton focusing on the representation of the Partition of India in contemporary Indian Cinema. Her research interests and expertise extend to memory studies, cultural studies, film adaptation and gender studies. She holds a master’s in mass communication, specialising in Audio-Visual Production. In addition to her academic pursuits, she has been an active film practitioner, completing professional stints in several reputed film and television production houses including corporate and documentary filmmaking. During her doctoral studies she presented her research at various conferences in the UK. These include Cardiff University, University of Bristol and Zhejiang University in China. She has been invited as a guest speaker at the India International Centre (New Delhi) and a panelist at the ‘Curating Partition’ Conference organized by De Monfort University, Leicester, UK. She is also a member of the Association for the Study of Marginalized Cultures of the World (ASMCW), which is a new initiative taken by Indian scholars and academicians. She is currently teaching undergraduate and postgraduate film courses at the Amity School of Film and Drama, Noida, India.
