Dr Maria Tomlinson
Maria is a lecturer in Public Communication and Gender at the University of Sheffield. Her research explores how public communication can reduce social inequalities. She is currently researching the impact of advocacy, journalism, and social media on young people’s knowledge and perceptions of the health and social issues around menstruation. She has published articles and books on topics such as gender inequalities, NGOs, menstruation, maternity, menopause, sexual harrasment, and FGM. Her work has examined public communication and the experience of minority groups in countries as wide ranging as Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Algeria, and Mauritius.
